Cassie, I so enjoy your site. You are an amazing energetic teacher who has honed your craft to perfection! Your students are truly privileged to have such an unbelievable exposure to the world of ART World around them through your magic in teaching. I have been teaching art for 37 years (and STILL love it) and you bring renewed energy to me for my Art room (we can always learn!) Thanks for sharing with the world your amazing style. You are truly gifted! Chris
Cassie, I'm writing a post that mentions your blog, and I would love to include some of your photos. If you don't mind, please let me know. They would be fully attributed and linked. Thanks, Jen at bayouquilts.blogspot.com
I love your ideas and your enthusiasm. I am a brand new ART teacher. Not a new teacher because I have taught first grade for the last nine year. But here in the art room, I have really found where I am supposed to be. You have been so inspirational to me and I would like to thank you. I also was wondering if you have any cute and fun ways to teach color to the kindergartners?
Hi!! I'm so sorry Brandy I have neglected to respond to your message! Here is a fun color lesson for kinder: http://cassiestephens.blogspot.com/2015/10/in-art-room-color-mixing-unit.html
I love your idea of a video for students and for a sub. What kind of camera equipment do you use? I'm thinking this would be a great item for a small grant I want to try.
Hi Cindy! If you look in the one photo in the post with my sub video, you'll see my tripod. I scored it at the thrift store, it's nothing fancy. I also just use my regular camera (which used to be a $150 number and ow I have a Canon G15...but you don't need anything that nice) and I set it to record. I record on the lowest resolution (hence the lame quality) because it uploads faster and the kids can't tell the dif. So, for your grant, you might need enough for an inexpensive camera (CoolPix, maybe?) and a tripod. About $200 on the low side. Hope that helps!
Dear Cassie, I am so glad to have found your site!! You are the Ms Frizzle of the Art Room!! Love the clothes, love the Sub Video, love the lessons. I will be here often. Thank you, Sharon
Hi, Cassie! I love your art projects and your blog! I was wondering if you do clay projects...I also have 1/2 hour art classes back to back....it is difficult, but I do manage..Thank you!!
Hi! I do have many clay project on my blog...but I don't have a very good search function yet. Try googling my name, clay project and hit "images" and you'll find many ideas that will lead you to blog posts. Thanks!!
Hi Helen! So many inspirations! I pull a lot of inspiration from the 1950's, Christian Dior's New Look, my crafty grandmother and my students' art, just to name a few. If you'd like to chat more, feel free to email me at cassieart75@gmail.com. Thanks!
Hi Cassie, I met you at the conference, it was so nice meeting you in person.
I have 2 questions for you…. What was the name of the microphone you use to do the video record? How can we download your (and the other artists) folk art presentation?
I love listening to to your podcasts and I was wondering a few things:
Do you teach students with special needs? If you do is it at the same time as other students and how do you modify for their personal needs?
AND do you or have you ever taught a doubled class (2 classes at the same time in your room)? I have Kinder, first, and second doubled. What management do you use?
Hi Cassie! I'm a brand new art teacher (not a brand new teacher) and I've been wondering how you grade your students artwork? I'm finding it difficult because I want all my kids to love art with their varying gifts and talents! Thanks! You are TRULY an inspiration!!!!
hey Cassie, just love you and your hard work in the Art room. I myself Art teacher 21 years now. Now to the question for you, what kind of black marker, paint marker do you use when you draw those fabulous black line drawings. I am not sure what projects I have seen you use them, but you have used it in a few. Thanks Marty

I saw the Threads article on you and your creations. They are beautiful. What pattern did you use for the Van Gogh Starry Night dress?
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't know that was out yet! I actually used a thrift store dress as the base!
