Under the Sea Week!

Hello, friends! Who's ready for Under the Sea Week? I'm so excited to kick things off with a selfie that we'll be bubble printing on!

In case you don't know...you can join me for live art class on my Instagram page or my Facebook page. If you miss a class, no worries, I always post the lesson the following day to my YouTube channel. Here's what's in store this week:
Last week we explored a bunch of collage techniques for our hamburger. I thought we'd continue that by creating a Coral Reef Relief Sculpture!
Y'all know it wouldn't be a week of Art Class with Cassie without some salt dough clay, right? If you are low on supplies, any clay would work from Model Magic to Play-Doh.
What do sharks snack on? Let's draw what we think they might enjoy with this fun pop-out!
The kids have been BEGGING for a mermaid project so here we go! We'll do a fun printing technique for the background to create a tie-dye effect.
And here's the line-up! If you know some kiddos who would enjoy, please feel free to share. Also, big thanks to our sponsors, Art to Remember and Ticonderoga!

Why not brighten mom's day with a pop-up rainbow?
Or spend some time writing about what a star she is in your life with this project:
This MOM/WOW project was a huge hit this week!
And, lastly, try this origami house that you can draw your family inside:
And this optical illusion heart is just so fun and easy to make with amazing results!
Happy Mother's Day!

Let's Make a R2D2 Collagraph Print!

Yesterday I shared a Talking Baby Yoda project and it was so fun that I wanted to make a project based on my other fave Star War's character: R2D2! For this, you'll need a cereal box, scissors, glue, markers and foil. When doing the printing portion, you'll need paper and a way to dampen your paper. I use a sponge but a spray bottle would work as well. If you pull a print and it turns out too dry looking, try it again and dampen a new piece of paper a little more. It was just needing more water. If it looks too blurry, try adding less water. You'll get the hang of it with practice. Here we go:
Have fun!

Snack-tastic Chefs Week!

Who is ready for another week of art-making! I'm pretty stoked about this week as it is based on my favorite thing: snacks! And, despite the fact that I'm not such a great chef myself (have you even seen Season 3, Episode 3 of Nailed It!?), we are going to be BAKING COOKIES on Friday! Which is all kinds of funny as the judges spit out my cookie that I made on T.V. Let's just hope y'all don't do the same.

So get read for another fun week and be sure and share this with friends and family so they can join the fun too. We'll kick things off with a Chef Selfie!
On Tuesday, I'll be sharing a lot of paper folding and paper sculpture techniques in this Hamburger Sculpture project.
On Wednesday, let's make a Salt Dough Pizza!
On Thursday, I'll show you how to draw a 3-D cake! It's a piece of cake!
And on Friday, we are gonna bake! I'm so excited about this!

To join me live, you can find me on my Instagram and my Facebook page. If you miss the LIVE session, no worries. You can catch the video the next day on my YouTube channel! Be sure and subscribe. I'll be sharing lessons there (in addition to these) all week for Mother's Day!

I hope you'll grab some paper, markers and crayons and draw along with me. If you do, I'd love to share there here on my blog! You can email a snap of your drawing to casseiart75@gmail.com.
